State of Mind

When you look at Mo'Nique and the images of her 2013 workouts, it has to put you in a state of mind that says, "I can do it too!"  Being overweight doesn't mean that you have to be that way.  Who hasn't heard the saying, anything worth having is worth working for?  In this picture, even I can feel the sensation in my legs of her enduring progress.  That is such a great feeling to have.

It's easy to try fad diets, and miracle plans, but the true endeavor is getting your mind right.  Being committed to yourself, your health and your loved ones.  I love this picture and am so pleased that Mo'nique is DOIN' IT!!!

Get rid of the excuses! The only person who holds you back is YOU!

What is the goal?

I often hear people say that their goal is to lose weight.  So, when you do, and your body is either flabby or not shapely, then what? You have to have a defined goal when it comes to working out. Do you want to tone? Are you just wanting to drop weight? Are you wanting toned arms or to be toned all over?  What do you want your butt to look like? Are you wanting to get bigger? Do you want to be stronger?

Those are just some of the questions to ask yourself. Then, make a plan of action or seek assistance from a personal trainer.  Whatever the case, you should go into it with a specific goal.
Once the goal has been determined, then comes the plan of action.  Since, you're taking time for fitness, get the most out of it!

Being Consistent

This morning, I thought about the word "consistent".  That is what people struggle with when it comes to making lifestyle changes.  It just has to be consistent and not drastic!  Every morning, we have a routine that is done without thought...well, most times without thought.  That is the goal that should be reached when it comes to things like - eating better and working out.

No one can make things happen but you.  Every week, it's about planning when you're going to work out, what you're going to eat and getting those things done.  Knowing what you are eating allows you to have those little indulgences from time to time.  I'll share more about that at another time.  We all have things and more things and family and things and other things on our "to do" list, but when it comes to ourselves, it's about making yourself important enough to be on that list.

If you aren't consistent, your results or your goals will take longer to achieve.

40 Mile Bike Ride

Phew!  Saturday morning was cold!  The sad thing is that it was Memorial Day weekend.  Well, a friend of mine and I had decided to ride.  We have dealt with the cold before on previous rides and runs, so the cold weather was not a deterrent for this time either.  We decided to ride on the Western Reserve Greenway Trail and though we did not achieve the miles that we had wanted (time restraints), we did reach 40 miles for our ride.

The ride was a beautiful, country ride.  Though, my husband and I ventured on a small part of the trail before, this time it was the accomplishment of hitting a distance that I never achieved on a bike at one time.
